APM Launches Third Golden Thread Research Paper

APM has launched the third and final research paper under the "Golden Thread" Banner.

Paper 1, published in April 2019, studied of the contribution of project management and projects to the UK''s economy and society. The report highlighted a 'hidden profession', revealing that project management contributes £156bn to the UK economy and employs almost 1 in 12 workers. It provides some fascinating P3M statistics, and gives sector insights for construction, aerospace & defence, and transport.

Paper 2, published in March 2020 gave a UK regional focus, looking at the south west, the midlands engine, the Cambridge innovation centre, the Heathrow corridor and the northern powerhouse.

With this third paper, APM is drilling down into some specific sectors.

Paper 3, just published (July 2020) focuses on 3 specific sectors - healthcare, charities & SMEs. We're delighted to see APM consider project management in SMEs.

As explained in the ProjExc blogpost we continue to be concerned at the lack of attention and support available to project managers in the SME sector. Clearly APM are in the early stages of discovery around the SME challenge, but it's very much a welcome first step.
